Senior Execs, Surgeons and Physicians Top List of Most "Overrated" Jobs

Senior corporate executives, surgeons and physicians have topped the list of most "overrated" jobs, based on stress, unsteady hiring and physical demands, according to a news release from CareerCast.com

According to the report, the "hype" around these positions makes them sound more appealing than they are in reality. Following the top three positions mentioned above were psychiatrists, airplane pilots and attorneys.

"While many of our overrated jobs pay well or carry a certain amount of cachet, they also have a downside," said CareerCast publisher Tony Lee. "Our most overrated career — senior corporate executive — earns an average of $161,141.00 per year, but it holds the top spot as most overrated due to its high stress, shaky stability and consistently long hours that affect family time."
