ProMedica lays off 100 employees, second reduction in a year

Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica laid off 100 employees this week, marking the nonprofit system’s second workforce reduction in a year, according to The News-Messenger.

ProMedica would not disclose what facilities, departments or positions were affected by the layoffs, system public relations manager Tausha Moore told the publication.

"ProMedica regularly evaluates its staffing model and system processes to ensure effective and efficient operations while continuing to deliver high quality, compassionate care. This week ProMedica experienced a small workforce reduction that affected a fraction of a percent of its [56,000-employee] workforce," Ms. Moore stated.

She said the layoffs are connected to the reorganization of some ProMedica operational functions and that the system “is working closely with affected employees to provide support and opportunities to return if a future job opening meets their needs.”

The recent layoffs come less than a year after ProMedica laid off about 100 employees in August to cut costs in response to today's healthcare environment. Those layoffs primarily affected employees in leadership positions and corporate functions.
