Prisma Health to reorganize leadership, relocate HQ

Alyssa Rege -

Prisma Health, the health system formed through the combination of Columbia, S.C.-based Palmetto Health and Greenville (S.C.) Health System, announced several leadership changes and the relocation of its corporate headquarters, according to The Charlotte Observer.

The system's co-CEOs, Charles Beaman Jr. and Michael Riordan, will step down from their roles Jan. 1, 2020, once the organization names their successor — for which a national search has already begun.

"We are committed to finding the right leader, just as we are committed to improving the health and well-being of people in the Midlands, the Upstate and, ultimately, the entire state," James Wheeler, chairman of Prisma Health's board of directors, said in a press release obtained by The Charlotte Observer.

"With each step, we are coming closer to delivering on our promise to create a better state of health in South Carolina by improving clinical quality, the patient experience and access to care, and containing rising healthcare costs," he added.

Officials also said the system will relocate its corporate headquarters to Greenville this summer.

Palmetto Health and GHS merged in November 2017 to create the state's largest healthcare system. The 13-hospital system serves more than 1.2 million patients and was expected to generate $3.9 billion in annual net revenue, the report states.
