Price wrote checks for wife's travel before resigning

The day before he stepped down from his post as HHS secretary, Tom Price, MD, wrote two checks to reimburse the federal government for the cost of his wife's overseas travel on military aircraft, which totaled more than $7,500, according to a report from The Hill.

It was previously reported he wrote another check dated Sept. 28, the day before he resigned, to cover roughly the cost of his seats on private domestic flights, which totaled more than $50,000. Dr. Price did not cover the full cost of the chartered domestic flights, nor did he reimburse the government for the military flights, according to the report. The White House approved his flights on the military planes.

During his 10-month tenure as secretary, Dr. Price spent more than $1 million on travel, including flights both domestic and abroad, according to the report.
