While 35 percent of respondents said they were opposed to a single-payer system, 17 percent said they had no opinion on the matter. In Politico’s April poll, 54 percent of Democrats supported single-payer, but in the latest poll 67 percent of Democrats supported the measure.

Single-payer was even more popular than a “public option,” a government run insurance agency that would compete with private insurers, which 44 percent of respondents supported. The poll was conducted between Sept. 14 and 17 and surveyed 1,994 registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
