Pauls Valley General Hospital in Oklahoma Lays Off 17 in Restructuring Plan

Pauls Valley (Okla.) General Hospital has laid off 17 of 278 full-time employees as part of a restructuring plan to improve efficiency and realign job responsibilities, according to a Pauls Valley Democrat report.

PVGH has consolidated services under fewer departments, such as creating one centralized patient location instead of five and moving all traffic to the emergency room after 5 p.m., according to the report. The layoffs, which included janitorial and managerial positions, are expected to save roughly $80,000 a month.

The hospital has also established a hiring freeze. PVGH expects the employees who were laid off to have an opportunity to be rehired once its recent management agreement with St. Anthony Health System in Oklahoma City makes resources more available.
