Orlando Health cardiologist killed in bike crash

Robert Dalton Jr., MD, a cardiologist at Orlando (Fla.) Health, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle Dec. 17, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Dr. Dalton, 56, was out cycling around 6:45 a.m. when he was hit. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Dr. Dalton joined Orlando Health's Heart Institute Cardiology Group in 1999 after earning his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Robert Dalton and extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and children as they face this difficult time. Patients, team members and colleagues were all touched by Dr. Dalton’s professionalism, compassion and kindness. Dr. Dalton was an exceptional physician leader throughout our organization, and he will be greatly missed and remembered," a hospital statement reads.
