New York hospital exec dies during retirement party

A former executive for White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital died suddenly at his retirement party Jan. 11 meant to celebrate his 40-year career at the hospital, according to lohud.

Ossie Dahl, the former vice president of facilities at the hospital, fainted just after giving his retirement speech during a party in his honor at the Women's Club of White Plains. Police arrived just after receiving a 911 call around 6:40 p.m.

Lohud reports several physicians in attendance were performing CPR on Mr. Dahl, 64, when police arrived, and continued to do so in the ambulance. He was pronounced dead at White Plains Hospital shortly after.

Staff at White Plains Hospital told lohud they are "heartbroken" over Mr. Dahl's death.

"Ossie's impact on our hospital over the 40 years he worked here was powerful. He was a selfless leader who appreciated and respected everyone, always having the ability to bring a smile to our faces with his unique outlook, warmth and ability to connect with all. We will always feel his presence in our hallways."
