Most ACA subsidy beneficiaries are in pro-Trump states, AP poll finds

President Donald Trump's decision to end cost-sharing reduction subsidies — which help insurers subsidize the cost of coverage for low-income Americans on the exchanges — most affects states Trump won last year, according to an Associated Press analysis.

Overall, the analysis found nearly 70 percent of the subsidy beneficiaries live in pro-Trump states, according to the Associated Press, which examined 2017 enrollment data from CMS.

The Associated Press reports the analysis also showed an estimated 4 million subsidy beneficiaries lived in 30 pro-Trump states, and that Massachusetts was the only state out of the 10 states with the highest percentage of subsidy beneficiaries that did not support Trump in the November 2016 election.
