Mon Health CEO takes leave of absence following 20+ physicians' letter of 'no confidence'

Alyssa Rege -

Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health President and CEO Darryl Duncan was placed on a leave of absence Feb. 7 after more than 20 physicians at the institution's flagship hospital signed a letter of no confidence in Mr. Duncan.

The Morgantown-based Mon Health Medical Center physicians' letter outlined several issues at the institution, including the hiring of three cardiologists who have not seen patients but have been paid full salaries, and the administration's failure to tell patients about two other cardiologists' decision to leave Mon Health until Feb. 2, despite having been made aware of the departures last December.

Mon Health officials named Dorothy Oakes, MSN, RN, the organization's COO, interim CEO. She will maintain both positions during Mr. Duncan's leave of absence.

It is unclear when or if Mr. Duncan will return to his role.
