MD Anderson to collaborate with cancer centers in Asia

Emily Rappleye -

Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center has signed a multi-year agreement with Beijing-based Concord Medical Services to develop a cancer care program and oncology facilities in China and Singapore.

Concord Medical Services provides hospital management solutions and operates China's largest network of radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging centers. Under the agreement, Concord Medical Services will collaborate exclusively with MD Anderson at its new facilities in Shanghai and Beijing and on the development of a new cancer center in Guangzhou, China. The exclusive collaboration will also cover Singapore and most of the provinces in China.

As part of the collaboration, MD Anderson will support the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary oncology program, as well as research and development programs at Concord Medical Services facilities.

Concord Medical Services aims for its cancer hospitals to eventually become qualified members of MD Anderson Cancer Network's Associate membership program. As members of the program, the hospitals would be clinically integrated with MD Anderson.
