Maine Hospital Association welcomes new board chairman: 5 things to know

Chuck Hays, CEO of MaineGeneral Health in Augusta, was installed as chairman of the Maine Hospital Association board of directors June 22.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Hays.

1. Mr. Hays joined what is now MaineGeneral Health in 1995 as director of engineering.

2. Since Mid-Maine Health System joined Kennebec Valley Health System to become MaineGeneral Health, Mr. Hays has held various positions with the system, including senior vice president and COO. He became president and CEO of MaineGeneral Health in 2012.

3. During his tenure at MaineGeneral Health, Mr. Hays headed the team responsible for the construction and operation of the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta.

4. In his new role as chairman of the Maine Hospital Association board of directors, he succeeds outgoing chairman James Donovan, CEO of LincolnHealth in Damariscotta, Maine.

5. With Mr. Hays' installment, Peter Sirois, CEO of Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, becomes the chairman-elect. Charles Therrien, CEO of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, becomes treasurer of the board, and R. David Frum, president of Bridgton (Maine) Hospital and Rumford (Maine) Hospital, becomes board secretary.
