Here is a tip from Phil Stravers, partner at ICE Technologies.
“Good IT discipline starts at the top. If your hospital’s leadership team views technology as a necessary evil, those leaders won’t commit to making the organizational changes that turn IT into a patient care and profitability facilitator.
Create an IT leadership steering committee that meets regularly to discuss IT through the lens of patient value and business strategy, making strategic decisions based on analytics, not intuition.
Once your leadership team commits to change, enforce discipline throughout the entire organization. If one user creates an EHR workaround to save time, another user might pick it up, then another — and before you know it, your systems are filled with costly data issues.”
