Molly Gamble (Twitter) -
King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., has laid off an undisclosed number of employees.

The hospital cited declining patient volumes, shrinking reimbursement and other economic factors as triggers for the workforce reduction, which "affected many areas" of the hospital.

A hospital spokesperson has said some physicians were also laid off in addition to the across-the-board cuts, according to a report from The Independent.
