Kasich and Hickenlooper: Pressure is on Congress to work on bipartisan healthcare legislation

Leo Vartorella -

Govs. John Kasich, R-Ohio, and John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., joined forces in 2017 to form a bipartisan coalition of governors that released a healthcare stabilization plan, but in a joint op-ed for Time, the governors argue the onus of crafting effective healthcare legislation is on Congressional lawmakers.

In addition to their calls for bipartisan action toward value-based care, Mr. Kasich and Mr. Hickenlooper also encouraged patients to harness tools that can help them take a larger role in their healthcare delivery and payment.

"To achieve this, we must give patients the tools they need to make value-conscious choices, and encourage the private and public sectors to develop technologies that make this possible," they write. "A patient who needs a knee replacement should be able to choose the facility and doctor that provides the best care at the lowest price."
