Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky., plans to eliminate 70 jobs to cut costs, according to a New Era report.
The hospital has been challenged by regulatory and reimbursement changes, and has also struggled with sequestration-related cuts, according to the report.
JSMC's workforce reduction will involve some early retirements and some layoffs. To further cut costs, the nonprofit 194-bed hospital will decrease operating expenses, travel and marketing budgets. It will also renegotiate vendor contracts.
