Indiana Hospital Assessment Expected to Generate $100M in Federal Funds

A hospital fee included in the Indiana state budget is expected to generate $100 million in federal funds to hospitals in the state, according to an Indianapolis Business Journal report.

The law, approved in April by state legislators, would assess hospitals approximately $200 million each year in order to draw increased federal matching funds, which would be redistributed to the hospitals though higher Medicaid payments.

A committee must now work out the specific details of the fee plan, which will need approval by CMS.
