16 Hospital and Health System CEOs With Blogs

Staff -

The rise of social media has given hospital and health system executives several avenues to reach patients, community members at the Internet audience at large.

Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular social media tools. Many healthcare executives have become active in the Twittersphere, in particular, as the 140-character sounding boards allow millions to digest thoughts and articles in brevity.

However, before Facebook and Twitter came along, blogs were the hot social media and gave anyone the opportunity to discuss topics at any length. To varying degrees, they still are popular through Tumblr and other channels. Paul Levy, former CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, has mastered the medium through his blog, "Not Running A Hospital." Nick Jacobs, former president of Windber (Pa.) Medical Center, also was a pioneer for blogging hospital executives.
