Healthcare tops issues at Iowa caucuses

Despite delayed results from the Iowa caucuses, polls clearly showed healthcare mattered most to Democratic caucusgoers, The Washington Post reports.

The report cites preliminary exit polls conducted by Edison Research that found healthcare was the deciding factor for a majority of voters, followed by climate change. Those who said healthcare was their deciding issue most often supported Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Pete Buttigieg, former mayor of South Bend, Ind.

Nearly 60 percent of caucusgoers said they supported a single-payer healthcare plan that replaces private insurance. Of those who supported single payer, a majority supported Mr. Sanders.
