Democrats want 2020 presidential candidate to focus on healthcare, poll finds

A plurality of likely voters — especially Democrats — would want a Democratic president in 2021 to focus his or her efforts on healthcare, according to a new poll from Vox Media.

The poll of 921 likely voters was conducted online by Civis Analytics Feb. 28.

The poll asked voters what issue they would like to see addressed if there is a Democratic president and Democrats controlled the legislature in 2021. The plurality of respondents (31 percent) ranked healthcare as the most important issue, followed by guns (15 percent) and immigration (14 percent).

Respondents who identified themselves as Democrats prioritized healthcare even more, with 45 percent citing it as the issue Democratic legislators should tackle if they are in power next.
