CNN: How Democrats' health plans stack up with voters

A CNN poll of Democrat and left-leaning independent voters found Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is currently seen as the strongest candidate on healthcare.

Voters preferred Mr. Sanders over the other candidates even if they wanted to preserve private insurance. Mr. Sanders supports eliminating all private insurance. Most Democratic voters favor a public option, but only 3 in 10 voters polled by CNN support abolishing private plans.

Here are the candidates Democratic voters said are best equipped to handle healthcare:

  1. Mr. Sanders — 26 percent
  2. Former Vice President Joe Biden — 18 percent
  3. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. — 16 percent
  4. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif. — 10 percent
