Cincinnati's Christ Hospital Expands Into Northern Kentucky, Increasing Competition for St. Elizabeth Healthcare

The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati is expanding into Northern Kentucky in what some are considering a "turf battle" with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, also based in Cincinnati, according to a Cincinnati Enquirer report.

Christ Hospital recently announced plans to open a primary care office in Fort Wright, Ky., and the employment of two cardiologists in Florence, Ky.

Rival St. Elizabeth acquired St. Luke Hospitals in 2008 and has since dominated the Northern Kentucky market.

Earlier this month, St. Elizabeth filed a lawsuit against Christ Hospital and the two cardiologists in Florence alleging violations of a non-compete agreement, according to the report.
