U of Cincinnati Health to end exec health program

University of Cincinnati Health plans to end its executive health program by the end of July following the departure of a key program leader, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.

Angela Fitch, MD, director of the health system's executive health program, will leave the health system July 13 to serve as associate director of the Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center and assistant professor at the affiliated Harvard Medical School in Boston, the report states.

During her tenure at UC Health, Dr. Fitch also served as medical director of medical weight management at the UC Health Weight Loss Center.

"Upon her departure, we will take the opportunity to evaluate our Executive Health Program and review best practices," Kristin Fontaine, director of the program, wrote in a letter to patients, obtained by the Cincinnati Business Courier.

The health system's executive health program was in operation for several years, with roughly 80 to 100 executives participating each year, according to the report. In 2013, the program expanded to include a one-day program for working women.

"[The program] could easily rise again as there is more bandwidth to focus the effort appropriately and provide an excellent patient experience," Dr. Fitch told the publication. "That was going to be hard to do without direct MD leadership and me leaving, and finding a replacement will take time."

The executive program's website notes UC Health is no longer accepting appointments for the program, though appointments scheduled before July 1 will be honored.

"It has been our honor to care for leaders in our community through the provision of our Executive Health Program. As the region's academic health system, we thank you for your partnership and your trust in us," the website reads.
