Centura hospital to cut staff by 4% — layoffs amount to fewer than 30 workers

Kelly Gooch -

Longmont (Colo.) United Hospital, part of Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health, will lay off about 4 percent of its staff, according to a Times-Call report.

The hospital did not disclose an exact number of layoffs. However, LUH spokesperson Kirsten Pfotenhauer said they will affect about 4 percent of the hospital's roughly 800-person workforce and be fewer than 30, according to the report.

Ms. Pfotenhauer also did not specify what positions will be cut, except to say, "They are from across the hospital from a variety of departments, both clinical and nonclinical."

LUH attributed the job cuts to various factors, including a need to cut costs and shorter inpatient stays.

"As the landscape of healthcare changes, nationally and locally, organizations everywhere are being asked to reevaluate how they do business," the hospital's interim President Joe Tasse said in a statement to the Times-Call. "Our community is relying on us to make the changes needed while ensuring the high quality of care they've come to expect from us continues."

LUH has no plans to cut services or lay off any additional employees.
