A measure that would suspend penalties for the employer insurance mandate and delay a tax on high-cost employer-sponsored plans has cleared the House Ways and Means committee, The Hill reports.
The bill was sponsored by Reps. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and would take away employer mandate penalties from 2015 to 2019 and delay the "Cadillac" tax on high-cost employer-sponsored plans to 2022.
Mr. Kelly said the bills make sense in the wake of Republican repeal of the individual insurance mandate.
"I think it's fair, if we relieve the burden for individuals, that we stand with our small and midsized companies," said Mr. Kelly.
