Biden responds to Sanders' challenge to reject money from insurance companies, pharma

 Former Vice President Joe Biden's presidential campaign said it's not expecting contributions from insurance companies, in response to a challenge from 2020 contender Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to reject donations from payers and pharmaceutical companies, according to The Hill.

The Hill obtained the following statement from Mr. Biden's campaign: "Vice President Biden fought to get the biggest reform to our healthcare system in a generation done, so insurance companies know where he stands — and based on their reaction yesterday to his healthcare plan, we're not expecting too many contributions."

Mr. Biden has held fundraisers with healthcare industry contributors, according to the report. The retort also comes as the two candidates spar over healthcare policy.
