Best Buy CFO among new board members for Children's Minnesota

Children's Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis added five new board members Nov. 21 alongside its announcement for the 2020 board officers.

The Children's Minnesota board welcomed:

  • Matt Bilunas, CFO, Best Buy
  • Linda Hall, PhD, entrepreneur-in-residence and adjunct professor, University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management
  • Jim Leslie, entrepreneur and chairman of the board of the James D. Leslie Family Foundation
  • Jill Schurtz, executive director and CEO, St. Paul Teachers' Retirement Fund Association
  • Carolyn Smallwood, CEO, Way to Grow

The board also appointed Gary Blackford, former CEO of Universal Hospital Services, to serve as chairman, and Martin Bassett, president and CEO of the Walman Optical Co., to serve as vice chairman. 3M Connect Vice President Henry Chang will serve as treasurer of the board, and Children's Minnesota's Maria Christu will serve as the secretary ex officio. Ms. Christu is chief legal officer and senior vice president of advocacy and health policy at the pediatric health system.

"We are thrilled at the diversity, breadth and depth of expertise the new board members will bring to help advance our commitment to improving children's health by providing the highest-quality, family-centered care."
