Best Buy appoints Atrium Health CEO to board of directors

Best Buy plans to push further into the healthcare space, and it appointed Atrium Health President and CEO Eugene A. Woods to its board of directors to provide industry insight.

Mr. Woods, who has 25 years of healthcare leadership experience and joined Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium in 2016, expressed excitement about joining Best Buy's board.

"Healthcare is about serving others, and increasingly, this means providing better and more convenient access to high-quality care — even at home," he said in a press release. "I believe Best Buy has a phenomenal strategy in this space, and I'm honored to join the board during this exciting phase of the company's transformational journey."

Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly said Mr. Woods' insights would help the company execute its healthcare strategy.

"At the heart of our Best Buy 2020 strategy is our commitment to address key human needs, including health," he said. "Gene is a highly respected leader in the complex and dynamic field of healthcare, and his insights will be invaluable as we continue to grow and innovate in that space."
