Question: What do innovators/entrepreneurs from outside healthcare need to better understand about hospital and health system leaders?

David Danhauer: Regulatory burden, financial uncertainty and overall complexity of the healthcare industry makes it difficult to work with those individuals without healthcare background.

Q: Healthcare takes a lot of heat for not innovating quickly. What’s your take on this?

DD: Innovation is costly and dangerous when patients are involved.

Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?

DD: I get the opportunity to work with the best and brightest team every day. I am in awe of their abilities to comprehend issues and work together to come up with solutions. I look forward to sitting in complex meetings and decisively move initiatives forward for the organization.
