Question: Describe one of your best colleagues. What does this person do to make him or her indispensable to your organization?

Dr. Griffin Davis: My best colleague and I have distinct, but sometimes overlapping, areas of responsibility. While that could cause conflict, it does not because of the level of communication that exists. It is more often that we collaborate when appropriate, and defer to each other's expertise when appropriate. She is indispensable to the organization because of her decisiveness, responsiveness and willingness to implement quickly, but change course if it is not successful.

Q: What unfolded the last time your organization responded to concerns or needs expressed by physicians?

GD: Our organization strives to always be responsive to the concerns of the physicians. They are all in private practice and choose to use our hospital. We have modernized equipment, implemented new procedures, adjusted our hospital staffing and adjusted our policies in order to respond to the concerns expressed.

Q: As a leader, what is the best investment you made in your own professional development in the past five years?

GD: In 2015, I completed an MBA and it has been the best investment in my personal development over the past five years. I met incredible leaders from different industries and learned essential business analysis, innovation, leadership and financial skills that I can apply to my administrative duties. Since then, I have had the privilege to serve as a CMO in a community hospital and the education has continued to pay dividends.
