Bashar Naser serves as the Chief Financial Officer, Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center.

Question: Healthcare leaders today need skills and talents that span beyond those emphasized during formal training and higher education. What one specific competency do you believe up-and-coming healthcare leaders would benefit from strengthening outside the classroom?

Bashar Naser: Many middle management staff lack business and financial knowledge. Encourage them to obtain more Management and Accounting skills so they can be successful in driving net revenue and reduce cost.

Q: What is going on right now?

BN: I am seeing increase in operating cost and more Medicare cuts over the next 10 years.

Q: What is the single most important thing you need to do in your role?

BN: Growing the top line and become more efficient in reducing cost.
