Question: What are your top priorities for 2022?

Danny Scott: IT Security continues to be at the forefront of what we are doing. EHR optimizations are a key focus as we strive to implement an agile approach to decision making and implementation.

Q: What technologies and innovations are you most excited about in healthcare right now?

DS: Remote Patient Monitoring really opens up the possibilities for the consumer to manage their health and provide real-time insights to their Providers. Any type of wearable; either for chronic disease management or overall health maintenance. Having all the data right in front of the consumer, for them to use for making educated decisions about their health, increases their opportunity to be healthier and in greater control of their quality of life.

Q: What will the lasting legacy of COVID-19 be on the healthcare system?

DS: It forced Healthcare to advance mobile technologies into the hands of the consumer. There has been a massive introduction of players into the market who traditionally no one would have expected, i.e., Amazon. The healthcare system competition is no longer local entities, but rather global. Staff working from home is a mainstay for many organizations. Again this has forced organizations to have mobile solutions for staff from various perspectives.

Q: What advice do you have for emerging healthcare leaders today?

DS: Being 6-12 months ahead of whatever anyone else is thinking is key. This will foster a proactive mindset vs reactive; which always leads to great stress and uncertainty. The consumer is demanding access any place and any time. Be prepared to facilitate that demand from an agile perspective. The days of meeting and planning new technologies over the course of months are long gone. You have to be able to review, decide and implement quickly. Be prepared to deal with roadblocks from external entities on a daily basis. If you focus on the healthcare mission, helping those in need, you won’t get overwhelmed and too frustrated.
