Q: What are your top priorities for 2022?

Georgia Casciato: Diversity, inclusion and health equity for more inclusive healthcare . The pandemic brought under the microscope service gaps in many communities; and the consequences associated with social determinants of health. We need to better understand community narratives and key variables that need to be targeted for maximum improvement and impact. There is a need to develop healthcare leaders that are more representative of the communities they serve.

Tighter integration and coordination for public health and our traditional health system. Knowing there are funds and resources available on a national, state and local level, how can we quickly align and integrate for better service coordination, delivery and access to quality care that extends healthcare delivery and improves community health? We need to keep open mind for what’s possible. Let’s throw out a broader net to engage, educate and expand our collective potential.

Q: What will the lasting legacy of COVID-19 be on the healthcare system?

GC: Alignment, collaboration, valued partnerships, speed to execution, results. So much is possible when we take down silos and work towards a common goal on a tight urgent timeline. What lessons have we learned in the last 2 years? What lessons do we STILL need to learn to move forward with positive outcomes for patients, families and , communities?

Q: What advice do you have for emerging healthcare leaders today?

GC: Think about where and how you’d like to contribute. Expand your network for where and how you choose to learn; whether it be through professional associations, what you read, programs & webinars you attend, and the people you talk to. Think about cross industry collaborations; as well as best practices, inside and outside of healthcare. Fill your future with possibilities – based on who and what you include in the aforementioned.
