Question: What one strategic initiative will demand the most of your time and energy in 2019?

Matt Faiman: In 2019, maintaining quality as our service grows will be one of the my greatest challenges. As we have seen 100% year over year growth, I will be focused to maintain the same quality as we deploy our service regionally and nationally.

Q: Tell us about the last meaningful interaction you had with a patient.

MF: The last encounter was this week. A husband (my patient) and wife were on vacation with their 3 young children (youngest 4 months old). They both were sick and both had already been to the walk-in before they left Cleveland. Now, days later, they were worse and in peril of getting their kids sick and ruining their vacation. I was able to see them virtually, diagnose their condition and electronically prescribe them medication. The husband sent me an update 2 days later that they both were improving and the vacation was saved. This really made me realize the value proposition of telehealth. At the end of the day, it really is just health care. The family felt connected to the health care team even though they were more than 1000 miles away. In addition, we were able to save them time away from their family and keep them healthy. This is what the value proposition of telemedicine is all about!

Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?

MF: I am fortunate to work with the best team in health care. We have Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Administrators who share the same vision but without the support, passion and hard work of our Nurse Practitioners (APPs), our team would not be as successful as it has been. The APPs are dynamic, caring, empathetic and have the innovative mindset to make our service (Express Care Online) a success. The patients love their care and it shows with our survey results. I feel honored to be part of this team.
