Question: What one strategic initiative will demand the most of your time and energy in 2019?

Brad Goodson: From an operational perspective, the one strategic initiative that will demand most of my time and energy is making care more affordable for our patients. At Ochsner, we feel we have a duty to reduce our costs in such a way to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, so we can better serve our community. The entire team, including our physicians, is committed to reducing the cost burden of healthcare for our patients by working the fundamentals such as labor productivity and supply utilization, reducing care variation and embracing technological and process innovation.

Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?

BG: I am so proud to have the ability to work with tremendous caregivers and providers that live our core values each day. Ochsner permeates a family-centered culture committed to living our core values of always acting with INTEGRITY, putting patients first, knowing EXCELLENCE is an ongoing journey, approaching every encounter with COMPASSION and knowing TEAMWORK makes us stronger. To me, greatness occurs when everybody comes to work with the right frame of mind focused on collaborating to make a difference in our patients lives.
