America’s Essential Hospitals appoints Jersey City Medical Center CEO board chair

America’s Essential Hospitals, a nonprofit healthcare association representing 325-plus members, selected Joseph Scott to serve as chair of its board. Mr. Scott is president and CEO of Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center, a West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health facility.

Mr. Scott has served as an America’s Essential Hospitals board member since 2015. He is also the immediate past chair of the Hospital Alliance of New Jersey.

He became president and CEO of Jersey City Medical Center in 2008. Additionally, he is executive vice president of the Office of Health Care Transformation for RWJBarnabas Health.

Prior to joining RWJBarnabas Health, Mr. Scott was CEO of Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He holds a master’s degree in health and healthcare administration and management from St. Thomas University in Miami.
