Amazon-Berkshire-JPMorgan chooses CTO, hiring for several roles — including clinical

The healthcare venture launched by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase named Serkan Kutan, former CTO of online medical appointment platform Zocdoc, its chief technology officer, Mr. Kutan said in a LinkedIn post.

Mr. Kutan said the venture, unveiled in January 2018, in his opinion represents "the most promising attempt to improve healthcare in the U.S." He added, "The founders' long-term, not-profit seeking approach is exactly what it will take to make a difference. The challenging task will require the best technology team in healthcare."

Notably, his former company Zocdoc is backed by Bezos Expeditions, the venture fund of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Jack Stoddard, COO of the venture, congratulated Mr. Kutan on LinkedIn: "Awesome to have you on the team and on the journey! Welcome Serkan Kutan," he wrote.

Mr. Kutan also posted a link to the venture's career website, which is hiring for a broad range of roles, including clinical, communications, legal, strategy and research, and tech positions. The description for the jobs is uniform across the website.

"On behalf of everyone here at the Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan Chase healthcare venture, we want to thank you for your interest in our work," the posts read. "We are looking for the best and brightest across healthcare and from other industry sectors to be part of our team and help us fulfill our mission."

New clues about the venture emerged in court filings and testimony related to a lawsuit filed by UnitedHealth seeking to protect its trade secrets from the company. Court filings indicate the Amazon-Berkshire-JPMorgan venture is examining ways to combine third-party vendors' products to boost value for the three companies.
