The number of women running Fortune 500 companies hit a record high of 44 this year, reported Fortune May 23.
This figure is up from 2021's record of 41 female leaders of the top corporations across the U.S. Still, the 44 female leaders in total represent only 8.8 percent of all the companies on the prestigious ranking.
The new women leaders include Sarah London, CEO of Centene, Ellen Cooper, CEO of Lincoln National and Laura Prieskorn, CEO of Jackson Financial.
