Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health laid off 50 employees at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, hospital officials confirmed to Becker's.

The layoffs, which occurred last week, represent about 3 percent of Porter's total workforce of more than 1,400. Hospital officials did not reveal which positions were affected but said bedside nurses and physicians were not laid off.

Centura attributed the layoffs to its"larger initiative to streamline business functions and improve organizational efficiency."

"These changes will not reduce services or impact the quality of our care," said hospital officials.
