Overall healthcare employee confidence rose by 4.1 points to 57.5 in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to the latest quarterly Randstad Healthcare Employee Confidence Index, a survey of 299 workers including physicians, healthcare administrators and other healthcare professionals.

The confidence index moves from 0 to 100, and a score above 50 indicates a positive confidence level. Here are some other key findings from the report. Survey responses were collected in October, November and December 2012.

• Approximately 30 percent of healthcare workers believe the economy is getting stronger compared with 20 percent in Q3.
• The number of healthcare workers who believe there are more jobs available increased to 22 percent — a nine percentage point increase from Q3.
• Sixty-two percent of healthcare workers remain confident in the future of their employers — a six percentage point increase from Q3.
• Approximately 31 percent of healthcare workers say they will begin looking for a new job in the next 12 months. That's 8 percentage points higher than in Q3.
