22 Leaders on the CBO's Panel of Health Advisers

The Congressional Budget Office routinely releases reports and analyses that probe into the status and effectiveness of healthcare policies, and a select group of individuals helps the CBO throughout the process.

For 2014, the CBO has 22 experts on its panel of health advisers, who meet with the CBO and proffer their views and insights on the "latest developments in healthcare delivery and financing." Among the group is one health system leader: Glenn Steele, MD, PhD, president and CEO of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System. Dr. Steele has been a CBO health adviser since 2012.

Here are all 22 members within the CBO's panel of health advisers for 2014.

•    Andy Allison, PhD. Medicaid director at the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

•    Katherine Baicker, PhD. Professor of health economics at the Harvard School of Public Health's Department of Health Policy and Management.

•    Stuart Butler, PhD. Distinguished fellow and director of the Heritage Foundation's Center for Policy Innovation.

•    Richard Chambers. President of Molina Healthcare of California.

•    Amitabh Chandra, PhD. Professor and director of health policy research at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

•    Michael Chernew, PhD. Professor at Harvard Medical School's Department of Health Care Policy.

•    John Cogan, PhD. Leonard and Shirley Ely senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor of public policy at Stanford University.

•    Leemore Dafny, PhD. Professor of management and strategy and the Herman Smith research professor in hospital and health services at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

•    Roger Feldman, PhD. Professor of economics and health insurance at the University of Minnesota.

•    Amy Finkelstein, PhD. Ford professor of economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

•    Dana Goldman, PhD. Director of the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California.

•    Roy Goldman, PhD. Vice president and chief actuary of Humana.

•    David Lansky, PhD. President and CEO of the Pacific Business Group on Health.

•    Michael Leavitt. Founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners, and former HHS secretary and governor of Utah.

•    Thomas Lee, MD. Chief medical officer of Press Ganey.

•    David Meltzer, MD, PhD. Associate professor at the University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Department of Economics and Graduate School of Public Policy.

•    Peter Neumann, ScD. Director of the Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health and professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Medical Center.

•    Daniel Polsky, PhD. Director of research at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and professor of medicine and healthcare management at the University of Pennsylvania.

•    James Robinson, PhD. Leonard D. Schaeffer professor of health economics and director of the Berkeley Center for Health Technology at the University of California, Berkeley.

•    Lewis Sandy, MD. Senior vice president of clinical advancement at UnitedHealth Group.

•    Glenn Steele, MD, PhD. President and CEO of Geisinger Health System.

•    William Vogt, PhD. Associate professor of economics at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business.
