Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County has prioritized high-quality patient care for residents in and around Wisconsin since opening its doors 17 years ago.

Here are 10 things to know about the hospital.

1. Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County is a 69-bed, nonprofit facility in Two Rivers, Wis. The hospital opened to patients in 2000.

2. In 2015, the hospital reported roughly 2,097 inpatient admissions and 69,823 outpatient visits. The facility also saw approximately 11,664 visits to its emergency department during that year.

3. The hospital hosts a Level 3 trauma center, and maintains a partnership with Green Bay-based Aurora BayCare Medical Center to treat critically ill patients.

4. The hospital's intensive care unit provides eICU care services, which utilize telemedicine technology to allow offsite critical care providers to monitor patients in the facility's intensive care unit.

5. The hospital's campus is also home to the Aurora Health Center clinic, which provides specialty services, like cardiology, OB-GYN and behavioral health services, among others, to patients in need of such services.

6. The medical center is the only hospital in Manitowoc County to have received primary stroke certification and total joint certification by The Joint Commission. The hospital's Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic has also received Commission on Cancer certification.

7. The hospital maintains a 4-star rank under CMS' hospital rating system.

8. Aurora Medical Center officials operate under the philosophy of "care management," which improves patient care through prevention, early detection and disease management.

9. Upper management has also been trained in LEAN thinking, which aims to improve efficiency and save money by only providing essential services and care and trimming unnecessary costs.

10. Aurora Medical Center was named to the "100 Top Hospitals" list in the small hospital category by Truven Health Analytics in 2016 and 2017.
