Vanderbilt University Medical Center Affiliates With Three Tennessee Hospitals

Tennessee hospitals Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield and Williamson Medical Center in Franklin have affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to a Maury Regional news release.

The affiliation is designed to improve the cost-effectiveness of patient care through regional partnerships that integrate and expand services, establish medical records connectivity, create protocols and incentives for delivering services at the most cost-effective location and build protocols to standardize evidence-based medical practices.

Under the affiliation, the hospitals can immediately form jointly-operated programs with VUMC for cardiovascular services, cancer care, radiology/imaging, endocrinology, urology, rheumatology and other specialties, as well as for primary care, outpatient ambulatory surgery, outpatient physician practices and medical office building development, according to news releases by NorthCrest and Williamson Medical Centers (pdf). The hospitals can also partner on educational programs and clinical research.

The agreement builds on the relationships VUMC already has with the hospitals. For example, Maury Regional and Vanderbilt have partnered through the physician practice Vanderbilt Heart-Columbia, diagnostic imaging services in Spring Hill and inpatient neonatal intensive care and cardiac surgery services.
