Barnabas Health in NJ, RadNet Form Diagnostic Imaging Joint Venture

West Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health announced a joint venture with diagnostic imaging services provider RadNet to pursue several diagnostic imaging projects.

The joint venture, which will begin this summer, will first create a statewide diagnostic imaging network, initially with 37 patient access points. Barnabas Health and RadNet plan to expand the network by acquiring existing centers, developing new centers or contracting with third-party imaging providers. The joint venture will implement best practices across all networked imaging facilities to reduce costs, improve quality and increase efficiency.

In addition, the joint venture will provide management services, including IT, marketing, utilization review, billing and collecting, transcription, medical records management, equipment maintenance, purchasing and insurance, to existing RadNet and Barnabas imaging facilities. In the future, the joint venture may expand its management and contracting services to third-party imaging centers and inpatient hospital radiology departments.

Barnabas' and RadNet's partnership also plans to pursue new business opportunities such as medical oncology, comprehensive breast disease management, teleradiology, IT and clinical trials work.
