Pittsburgh's UPMC Plans to Add 1,900 Jobs Next Year

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center plans to add approximately 1,900 jobs next year to meet growing patient volumes, according to a Pittsburgh Business Times report.

The job hires will include 900 hospital service jobs, 500 insurance service jobs and 450 physician service jobs. UPMC also recently reported operating income of $275 million in fiscal year 2011, a more than twofold increase from fiscal year 2010. The health system's operating margin also more than doubled from last fiscal year.
