Another New Hampshire Hospital, St. Joseph, Announces Layoffs

Amidst mass state budget cuts affecting numerous hospitals in New Hampshire, St. Joseph Hospital laid off 44 people and eliminated several vacant positions, according to a Nashua Telegraph report.

The hospital also reduced hours for some employees. At the beginning of August, St. Joseph also announced it will be closing its subsidiaries Rockingham Regional Ambulance and Granite State Mediquip.

St. Joseph is one of 10 hospitals suing the state, alleging the state's budget plan improperly uses more than $200 million in Medicaid funds for non-Medicaid purposes, the report said.
