AHA Urges Congress to Extend Nine Expiring Medicare Policies

The American Hospital Association, along with 13 other organizations, sent a letter to U.S. House and Senate leaders asking them to enact legislation to extend nine Medicare policies that are set to expire on Dec. 31, according to an AHA News Now report.

The organizations wrote in the letter that failure to extend the policies — including geographic adjustments on physician fees, improvements to the hospital wage index, allowing independent labs to bill Medicare directly and bonus payments to ambulance services, among other provisions — would limit access to Medicare beneficiaries in under-served areas.
