Vanderbilt University Medical Center's chief compliance officer leaves for UW Medicine: 5 notes

Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Chief Compliance Officer James Mathis is leaving to Seattle-based UW Medicine, where he will also serve as chief compliance officer.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Mathis will depart from VUMC Jan. 22.

2. He came to VUMC in 2013, initially assuming leadership of Office of Compliance and Corporate Integrity, which was renamed the Office of Healthcare Compliance. He has served as chief compliance officer since 2014.

3. During his time at VUMC, Mr. Mathis oversaw all compliance-related matters, including creating and implementing a system-wide training and communications program.

4. He is certified by the Healthcare Compliance Association and American Health Information Management Association.

5. Christi Braun, managing counsel in VUMC's Office of Legal Affairs, and Bob Mangeot, billing compliance officer, will take over the responsibilities of chief compliance officer on an interim basis.
