Burlington-based University of Vermont Health Network named Al Gobeille executive vice president for operations, a newly created role, effective Sept. 1.
Mr. Gobeille was most recently secretary of human services under Vermont Gov. Phil Scott. He was also chair of the Green Mountain Care Board and played a key role in negotiating Vermont's first all-payer ACO waiver with the federal government.
Mr. Gobeille has also served as an officer in the U.S. Army.
In his new role, he will oversee the integration of operations across the health network, which includes six hospitals, a medical group and a home health and hospice agency.
