University Hospitals CMO Dr. Michael Anderson departs for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital: 5 takeaways

Cleveland-based University Hospitals CMO Michael Anderson, MD, is leaving to take over as president of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco, effective Dec. 31, according to a Crain's Cleveland Business report.

Here are five takeaways:

1. Dr. Anderson will serve as senior vice president of children's services and vice-chair for children's health in the pediatrics department at UCSF Health and UCSF School of Medicine.

2. Dr. Anderson has worked at University Hospitals for 31 years, serving in a number of leadership positions such as vice president and associate CMO for UH, as well as CMO at both UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland and for UH Cleveland Medical Center.

3. He currently chairs the National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters.

4. Dr. Anderson is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. He completed a fellowship in pediatric pharmacology and critical care at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.

5. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
